I am a Chicana, recovering perfectionist, lover of music and movement, driven by connection and purpose. I have been teaching dance & movement classes in Long Beach since 1994. I am known for my authentic and personal approach. Through somatic practices, I help you make friends with your body.

Hi, Iā€™m Liz

MyStory

My journey with movement began at the age of 8, when my mom enrolled me in dance classes at a local studio, now known as Studio M. Dance quickly became my portal to self-expression. In my early years I studied ballet, tap, jazz, modern, Dunham, Pilates, Lyrical, Musical Theater and improv. As the years unfurled, the harmony I felt with dance wavered. Struggles with body image, the relentless pursuit of perfection, and the shadows of past traumas clouded my path through early adulthood.

I have spent the last twenty years learning to appreciate my body and what it does for me. As an adult, I continued to seek out ways to feel strong and centered. This led me to barre and yoga.  It was the mantle of motherhood that truly set me on the path to healing and profound change. While I have always used movement to help me process and cope, it wasn't until I discovered somatic movement that I have been able to shift the focus of my movement from external appearance and intensity to connection and inner strength.

My Discovery

The journey towards honoring my body has been illuminated through the practice of somatic movement. Through this discovery, I am navigating through entrenched patterns of being and doing most of which no longer serve me. It has become evident to me that mere thoughts are insufficient to release these patterns; they necessitate physical processing because it is in our bodies that experiences are stored.

The prospect of sharing this transformative practice fills me with enthusiasm. I am eager to introduce you to the profound world of somatic movement and witness the positive impact it can have in your life.

Make friends with your body and let movement be your medicine.
