Somatic Education

At the MOVEMENT, somatic education is approached as a lived, relational practice.

The classes, private sessions, and training offerings here are informed by somatic principles, functional movement, and nervous system awareness. This work emphasizes listening, consent, agency, and responsiveness.

For those interested in integrating a somatic approach for teaching or guiding others, these principles are explored more explicitly through small-group trainings and cohorts offered through the studio.

Lineage & Mentorship

My understanding of somatic movement has been shaped by years of study and practice, including mentorship with Kaila June Keliikuli, whose work deeply informs how I listen to the body and teach movement.

Her teaching spans foundational somatic principles, movement patterning, and embodied awareness, and continues to influence how this work is practiced and shared at the MOVEMENT.

For those who feel called to explore somatic education more broadly or in greater depth, her programs offer a rigorous and expansive pathway.

The Larger Field of Somatic Practice

Somatic education is a wide and evolving field, with many lineages and approaches.

For those interested in learning more about professional standards, ethics, and the broader landscape of somatic education, the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA) provides resources and information about the field as a whole.
